How does a typical process for developing and implementing a website look like?

1.

Analysis and consultation

Based on the objectives and after an analysis of the requirements and further research, the content-related and technical requirements as well as expectations will be condensed and specified. Furthermore, resources and technical platforms will be defined in a concrete plan.

Result: An analysis and recommended action based on data and facts, including realistic resource calculation and roadmaps.

Strategy and UX design

Based on the results and specifications of the analysis and planning phase,user stories are going to be developed. In addition, wireframes, flowcharts and click-throughs are going to be created and with a user-centred view and an optimal information architecture will be derived and outlined. Based on this, a design thesis is going to be led to the final design solutionin an iterative process. All requirements from function, feature design, surface and interface behaviour will be described in detail and, if necessary, documented in a design and technical specification.

Result: At the end of the analysis and design phase, a completed and concrete technology, requirements, editorial and design concept will be available.

Technical development, integration and content production

After the results of the conception phase have been approved, the designsare going to be prepared for further technical development, migration and implementation.

Based on the designs, wireframes, click-throughs as well as the documented functional descriptions and content elements, the technical and content programming and production process will begin. The coordinated development phases are published on the development server in order to check the status of the project, testing and content migration as well as to realise an agile and iteratively coordinated optimisation of features and functions.

After clarifying the editorial processes, functions and distribution requirements for the individual contents of the website, Uhura develops the editorial and production plan and coordinates the tasks of all stakeholders (client, product owner, agency, editors, etc.). To ensure SEO integrity, site URLs are going to be captured and re-implemented if necessary.

Roll-out and Live launch

After the relaunch has been implemented on the test page (beta server) by all stakeholders and confirmed by departmental approvals, the final test and release phase is going to be initiated. All developments will be placed on the live server and databases and contents will be migrated there in the revised form.

Evaluation and support

Through regular reporting of target KPIs, urgent actions will be identified and the impact of website content and services will be reviewed. In addition to the constant implementation of content and its maintenance inthe system, the editorial, consulting and content management teams actively propose measures for constant optimisation and improvement.
